Gas bar petty thief wanted

Police are asking the public to help them find a petty pilferer with a taste for tobacco.

The OPP detachment in Rockland seeks a person of interest in a March 18 petty robbery at a local gas station.

A man walked into the gas bar that afternoon and stole about $120 worth of cigarettes. The gas bar’s closed-circuit television system caught images of the suspect (see photo) and police have released a description of the person of interest in the case.

He is described as Caucasian, standing between five-foot-ten and six-foot-one, or between 177 and 185 centimetres, with a large build. He is in his early twenties and has brown, shoulder-length hair. The day of the robbery this person was wearing a white-and-dark-green T-shirt, dark pants with red side lines on the pant legs, a black ball cap, and white running shoes.

Anyone who recognizes this person or has information about the theft can call the Russell County OPP Rockland detachment at 613-446-5124 or the CrimeStoppers confidential tips line at 1-800-222-8477.
