Three-vehicle accident near Wendover

An air ambulance was called to take one person to hospital following an afternoon accident east of Wendover June 17.

Police, paramedics and members of the Alfred-Plantagenet Fire Department rushed to the scene of a three-vehicle accident on County Road 17 between Wendover and Plantagenet. The accident occurred between noon and 1 p.m.

An OPP incident brief for the preliminary investigation states that a car headed west and a transport truck-and-trailer unit headed east collided in the eastbound lane.

The transport then struck a second vehicle before it rolled over into the ditch.

A 70-year-old woman, who lives in Alfred-Plantagenet Township, was driving the first car hit during the accident. She was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment of life-threatening injuries. At present there is no further information on her condition.

The drivers of the second passenger vehicle and the transport truck both suffered minor injuries.

The section of highway between the two villages was closed for nine hours while OPP specialists in collision reconstruction and investigation reviewed the scene. Police also supervised removal of the wrecked vehicles.
