Search-and-seizure for drugs in Hawkesbury

Two people are under arrest on drug charges following an OPP raid on two apartments in Hawkesbury.

Martin Bernier, 56, of Hawkesbury, is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and Brigitte Myre, 55, of Champlain Township, is charged with possession of drugs.

The two were arrested and charged following a police raid with search warrants July 22 on two separate apartment residences on Main Street East and Laurier Street in Hawkesbury.

Police seized an unspecified amount of what they suspected was crystal methamphetamine, along with an undisclosed amount of Canadian money, and other items believed linked with drug trafficking.

Both of the accused were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to appear in provincial court in L’Orignal September 16.

Work continues on the Ecolomondo project, a “green” addition to Hawkesbury’s industrial sector and the company is optimistic about having its new showpiece recycling facility ready soon.
