Hawkesbury duo charged in drug raid

Two Hawkesbury residents face drug charges after an April 30 raid on a residence.

Police executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon, just after 4 p.m., at a Regent Street home in Hawkesbury. Members of the OPP Hawkesbury detachment and also the Emergency Response Team (ERT) took part in the raid.

During the search, an unspecified quantity of methamphetamine, hydromorph contin, psilocybin, and crack cocaine was seized, along with more than $10,000 in Canadian currency.

Two people, a 44-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both of Hawkesbury, face charges of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property exceeding $5000 value obtained by crime. The police investigation continues and more charges may result.

The two were released on their own recognizance and their case is scheduled for the September 9 provincial court session in L’Orignal.

Work continues on the Ecolomondo project, a “green” addition to Hawkesbury’s industrial sector and the company is optimistic about having its new showpiece recycling facility ready soon.
