Michael Attfield, 22, of Russell, was pronounced dead after he was airlifted to hospital for treatment of his injuries. Several agencies are now involved with investigating the circumstances surrounding Attfield’s death.
Russell County OPP, with help from the Hawkesbury OPP, responded to a call around 4 p.m., August 10, to the site of a workplace accident on St-André Road in Embrun. The deceased had suffered electrocution.
A police incident report stated that Attfield received CPR from those present at the scene and from paramedics when they arrived in response to the emergency call. He was then airlifted to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Officials with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are continuing to investigate the situation. The Ministry of Labour, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and the Electricity Safety Authority have all been notified about the incident.
