A member of Clarence-Rockland city council is Hawkesbury’s new recreation and tourism director.

“I needed a new challenge, and I enjoy the municipal world,” said Cardarelli, about why he applied for the Hawkesbury recreation and tourism post.

Cardarelli, who represents Ward 1 on Clarence-Rockland council, becomes the new recreation and tourism director for Hawkesbury effective March 5. Hawkesbury council approved his appointment during its February 22 session, filling a municipal post that has been vacant since last October. Cardarelli will continue to live in Rockland and serve as the Ward 1 councillor, since Clarence-Rockland and Hawkesbury councils have their meetings on different days of the month.

The administration report to Hawkesbury council recommended hiring Cardarelli based on “his experience in recreation program management as well as building management” that he gained through almost a dozen years working for YMCA in Eastern Ontario.

Further details on Cardarelli's appointment will be in next week's editions of EAP newspapers.
