A public hearing on a proposal for redeveloping the former PPG property in Hawkesbury has been rescheduled.

The United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) and the Town of Hawkesbury had planned to host a joint virtual public hearing Thursday, May 27, on a proposal by a numbered company, 8362505 Canada Inc, for a huge residential and commercial development project on the former PPG industrial site at 545 Industriel Boulevard.

The company needs both the municipality and the UCPR to agree to changes to the Official Plan for the area and to rezoning of the property before any construction work on the project can begin.

A virtual public meeting on the proposal and land use designation request was scheduled for May 27, 6 p.m., and would later be available for general viewing on the Town of Hawkesbury’s YouTube channel.

The public meeting has now been reschedule to June 24 at 6 p.m. The reason for rescheduling is to ensure legal transparency and make sure that all documents related to the project proposal and the land use change requests are made available to various public and private agencies within the Prescott-Russell region that may have an interest in the matter.

All individuals and groups who have expressed interest in attending the virtual meeting will be notified in advance when the link is ready for the new June 24 date.
