A Hawkesbury man in his 20s will appear in court on multiple charges after a police pursuit in Ottawa on Tuesday night.

In a statement, the Ottawa Police Service said an officer spotted a vehicle travelling south on Bayshore Drive in the city’s west end at about 10:15 pm on March 16. Police said the officer tried to intercept the car, which had been reported stolen earlier that day, but alleged the driver did not stop.

Police followed the vehicle to a parking lot near the intersection of Campeau and Terry Fox drives in Kanata. The statement alleged the driver tried to flee and “made intentional contact with a police-marked vehicle" before they were stopped and arrested.

Maxwell Dupont, 22, of Hawkesbury was charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from police officer, two counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, two counts of mischief to property over $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of breach of probation, and mischief to property under $5000. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
