Russell man killed by two-vehicle collision
Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on Marionville Road in Russell, on May 5, at about 8:30 p.m.
Their investigation revealed that a car had collided with a farm tractor which was stopped on the roadway, causing the car to land in the ditch. The operator of the tractor, who had been standing near his vehicle, suffered major injuries.
A witness at the scene commenced first aid on the farm tractor driver until the Prescott-Russell Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The latter was identified as 63-year-old George St-Pierre, of Russell. Marionville Road was closed between St-Pierre Street and South Russell Road for several hours while the OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) worked to determine the cause of the crash.
No charges are anticipated.
