Rockland high school students shot at by driver
As a result of an investigation by the OPP regarding what appeared to be a drive by shooting, with an airsoft pistol, in Clarence-Rockland, two adults and one youth have been arrested and charged.
Antoine Cleroux, 18, of Rockland and Gabriel St-Amour, 18, of Fournier were both charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of an imitation weapon for dangerous purpose. The third suspect's name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice ACT, but he is facing the same charges.
All three are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in l'Orignal on December 19, 2018.
“During
the last period of school day on November 12, a group of students in
Russell District High School’s combined grade 10, 11, 12 physical
education class was approached by a car during their
regular class run in the neighbourhood,” explained Interim Manager of
Communications for the Upper Canada District School Board, April
Scott-Clarke. “A person in the car fired BBs (4.6 mm metal projectiles)
from the car at these students.”
Assistance was being sought from the public in helping to identify the parties
and/or the vehicle, which the OPP described as a blue Chrysler.
“It was
confirmed that three students were hit during this incident but nobody
was injured,” stated Mrs. Scott-Clarke. “The police are taking this
issue seriously and investigating. The school is
cooperating fully in the investigation.”
