OPP declared a section of Gilles Street in the Town of Rockland a crime scene and blocked off traffic while fire fighters wearing gas masks and air tanks dealt with a smoke-filled situation inside a house.
The Wednesday noon-hour fire call saw at least three Clarence-Rockland Fire Department trucks, plus an ambulance unit and an OPP patrol car on the scene. Paramedics stood by at the ready while fire fighters rolled out hoses, suited up with breathing gear, and also fired up a heavy-duty cutting saw.
Clarence-Rockland bylaw enforcement officers also assisted in cordoning the street off to any traffic while emergency personnel dealt with the situation.
