Russell County OPP have arrested a Limoges man in connection with two armed robberies at the Caisse populaire in the villages of Hammond and Limoges.
Enrique Elpidio Garcia, 33, of Limoges, was arrested March 1 on charges of armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and use of a disguise with intent to commit a crime.
The arrest and charges resulted from OPP investigation of two recent armed robberies at the two Caisse populaire in Russell County.
On Jan. 25, late in the afternoon, the Caisse populaire in the Village of Hammond, in Clarence-Rockland, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money by an armed masked man (see CCTV photo), who then fled the scene on foot.
On Feb. 15, also late in the afternoon, the Caisse populaire in the Village of Limoges, in The Nation Municipality, was robbed by an armed masked man, who fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Garcia is being held in custody pending a March 9 bail hearing at provincial court in L’Orignal.
