Chicken nuggets recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination
You better have a look in your freezer to see if you’ve recently bought any chicken nuggets.
Sofina Foods Inc. is recalling Compliments brand Chicken Nuggets from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled product.
The latter has been sold nationally excluding Quebec. The product is described as Compliments uncooked Chicken Nuggets – Breaded Chicken Cutlettes, weighing 1.5 kg, with a UPC number of 0 55742 33690 0. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) triggered the recall during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.
“Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” explained CFIA’s website. “Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”
