Champlain Township continues energy efficiency plan
Champlain Township has made significant progress in reducing its “carbon footprint” and council plans to make that footprint even smaller with the next stage of the municipality’s energy conservation plan.
Township council approved a report and recommendations from administration on the next year’s plan for the five-year municipal energy conservation and demand management plan. The plan covers policy changes and facility upgrades during the period from 2014 to 2019, to reduce the amount of electricity used for municipal operations and also contribute to greenhouse gas reduction as required provincial government regulations.
“Since the plan was first developed in 2014,” stated Paula Knudsen, chief administrator, in a report to council during its August 6 session, “the township has completed several energy reduction objectives.”
