Alfred-Plantagenet mayor hunts for federal flood help
The mayor of Alfred-Plantagenet Township is trying to find a federal agency that may be able to help residents whose properties were damaged by the Ottawa River spring flood.
Mayor Stéphane Sarrazin noted that several homeowners in the township who live along the Ottawa River may also now face problems with damage to their property from the spring flood. He is following up on a referral from the South Nation Conservation Authority about a property group that may serve as an agent for the federal government for its Crown lands.
“We’re working to find an answer for our residents,” Mayor Sarrazin said. “As soon as we can find out, we’ll let people know.”
