A rocking good time in Hawkesbury
“Hello, Hawkesbury! It’s good to be here!”
That, in French and English, in variations, was the common greeting at the start of each from all four bands and musicians who graced the stage at Confederation Park in Hawkesbury for the ONTour concert Sept. 15.
The Friday evening concert saw a crowd of at least 1000 or more people from Hawkesbury and from other communities in Eastern Ontario and Western Québec come to hear and cheer their favourites from among four performing artists.
Sudbury’s Emily Carrey, runnerup at the World Beatbox Championship in Berlin this year, emceed the Friday night concert with Steph Paquette opening the show, followed by country-rocker Andrew Hyatt and bluesman David Wilcox, with the award-winning Glass Tiger wrapping up the evening with an hour-long performance that earned them a standing ovation.
The ONTour summer concert series is a provincial government project as part of the celebration of Ontario’s 150th anniversary as a province.
